Welcome!

Welcome to my Blog on renewed, reused, updated, repurposed, revitalized, re-whatever you want to call it website.

My philosophy is...don't throw it out, give it to someone who can find a use for it.  Someone who can bring new life to old things.

Over the years, I have dabbled in making things, and bringing old to new life.  Here are but some of the things I have done, and more ideas for future projects.  Stay tuned...

Upholstered Chairs

xxxx
This is the first rehab I did with a friend.
We both took a reupholstery course at Joliet West High School.  Together we loaded and hauled this big chair weekly to the site and worked on it.  This was probably back in 1973.  The cushion is covered differently because it has become worn again in the 40+ years that it has been sit upon.  Will have to find a pre-cover picture to share here.
A few years later, this chair was done from scratch.  Again, since it has been sit upon for 40+ years, it too is beginning to show signs of wear.  Need to do again!

Soda Fountain Chairs

Mom loved to find garage sale items.  These are pictures of the chairs (4 of them) that she picked up.  They were painted a gold, with a brown leather seat.  They are bentwood, one chair has a missing piece of wood, but is still functional.

AND THEN AFTER MANY, MANY MONTHS.....FINALLY....VOILA!!

I decided to paint the wood red, and cover the seats with a black & whit polka dot material I had on hand.  They turned out pretty good, especially since it took tons of elbow grease to get the paint off of them, not easy.  Was not going to pay $80/each for stripping.  Yikes.

Bassett Dresser (circa 1974)

One Old tired dresser!

Here are a couple drawers!

Take a closer look inside.

Thought about painting it red...ugh no way.

Green paint, new drawer pulls.
Some decorative boxes where drawers were missing, or too damaged to be fixed.

Rollout Sofa

Roll-away Sofa

....in need of a new look!
Not enough red material to cover cushions, so will get something compatible later.  Cost to cover over old upholstery $17.00 from remnant pile!!

MoreChairs

Found on the Road!                         Driving home late one night from Michigan, there was this lovely bar height chair in the middle of the road. I got out of the car to move it, and voila, it was fine. A few small scratches, and in need of a new seat!
 Here is the rehab!

Rose needed a chair for her desk.  Found this at Goodwill for $5.00.  Then found a cotton print shirt, to recover the seat.
